1 气候

北京时间7月6日22时20分，迎来小暑节气。

古人认为“暑”即为热。小暑节气，暑气虽重，酷热尚未达到极致。此时节，气温攀高、雨水丰沛、阳光充足，是万物生长最为繁盛的时期。

倏忽温风至，因循小暑来。热风尾随小暑悄然而至，让人无处可逃。

Weather

At 22:20 on July 6th Beijing time comes the Minor Heat (Xiaoshu in Chinese).

The ancients thought that the character “暑” (shu) meant heat. During the Minor Heat, although the weather is hot, the heat has not yet reached its peak. At this time, the temperature rises, and the rainfall and sunlight is abundant, making it the most prosperous period for all things to grow.

The heat wave comes suddenly, following the arrival of the Minor Heat. The hot air has quietly chased the footprints of the Minor Heat and arrived, everyone has been surrounded.

2 农事

小暑时节，各地农作物进入茁壮成长阶段。

天气虽然炎热，农民却无暇休息，多忙于夏秋作物的田间管理。此时还是多种病虫害盛发的季节，需注意适时防止病虫。

Farming

During the Minor Heat,crops in various regions enter a stage of vigorous growth.

Although the weather is hot, farmers have no time to rest and are busy with field management of summer and autumn crops. This time is still a season of high incidence of plant diseases and insect pests, timely prevention is needed.

3 习俗

当下，山东多地依旧延续小暑“食新”之俗，即小暑过后家家户户吃新面、尝新酒。农民会将新割的麦子、稻谷加工成食物，供祀五谷大神和祖先，以此来感谢自然馈赠，庆祝谷物丰收。

Custom

At present, people in many parts of Shandong still continue the custom of “eating the fresh” during the Minor Heat, that is, after this solar term, freshly-made noodles and wine will be eaten and drunk in every household. Farmers will process the newly-harvested wheat and rice into food for offering sacrifices to the God of Grain and ancestors, in order to express gratitude for the gifts of nature and celebrate the harvest of grain.
